Gas Clerk Ran Out Of Premium, Small Town Somehow Mistook It As Racism

The village of Holly, Michigan is probably best known for hosting the Michigan Renaissance Festival, but now they'll be infamous for ganging up on an Arab gas station employee after the town's populace accused him of refusing service to a man in uniform.

It all started — and immediately gets confusing — when a man in an Army uniform stopped at the Mobil station in Holly, about half-an-hour north of Detroit. According to station manager Nick Ghalib, the man wanted to fill up with premium gas but the station ran out of mid-grade and premium.

But apparently the man told his wife that he was refused gas because Ghalib, who is Arab, did not want to offer service to an American in uniform. The man's wife did what all red-blooded Americans would do in this situation and posted it to Facebook, per MLive:

"LOCAL GAS STATION DISRESPECTS OUR MILITARY, BUT HAS NO TROUBLE ACCEPTING OUR DOLLARS ~~ THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN

BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT...

Jason had to report to the army reserves yesterday, on his way home he stopped to get gas, a drink and some jerky. When he went into the gas station and got to the counter the Arabic man looked at Jason, then his uniform and told him 'we dont serve gas here.'

The status was shared thousands of times, and next thing you know, according to the Inquisitr, men with guns and American flags were rallying outside the gas station.

While they were portesting, Ghalib calmly explained to the media that anyone is welcome at the gas station and that nothing like this has happned before. Ghalib says it's possible that his thick accent may have been misunderstood by "Jason."

Police arrived at the station but protesters left quietly when they did, according to the Inquisitr. Meanwhile, the woman who posted the original status has delted her account.
